MOUNTAIN HOME, Ark. — The memorial Mass for John J. Steffen, 91, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Peter The Fisherman Catholic Church in Mountain Home, Ark. A luncheon for friends and family will be held immediately after the ceremony at Fred's Fish House. Steffen died Jan. 9. Private burial will be in the Kirby's Tucker Memorial Cemetery, Mountain Home, Ark. He was born April 5, 1920, in St. Louis, Mo., the son of Edward and Zoe LaBaume Steffen. He married Esther Frizzell on June 16, 1957, at Poplar Bluff, Mo. and worked as a rail tester for Sperry Rail Service. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He lived in Mountain Home since 1983 moving from Bethel, Conn. He was a member of the Elks, VFW, Knights of Columbus and Twin Lakes Golf Club. He leaves several nephews and nieces; one sister-in-law, Sue Castleman; and special friend, Ruth Heckman. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Paul, his sister Mary Louise, and his wife, Esther R. Steffen. Arrangements are by Kirby and Family Funeral and Cremation Services.
