OLIVE BRANCH — The funeral service for Lucian G. Weaver, 86, was Monday with Forest Hill South in charge. Weaver died March after a long battle with leukemia. He was a Navy veteran. He served 28 years with the Memphis Police Department, rising to the rank of Captain. After his retirement in 1978, he worked for a number of years as Chief of Security for the newly re-opened Peabody Hotel in downtown Memphis. He is preceded in death by his wife, Doris L. Weaver; brothers Ward, John, Lemuel, and Billy. He leaves wife of 29 years, Barbara A. Weaver; brother, Ray L. Weaver of Memphis; three sons, Michael G. Weaver (Tracy Mitchell) of Nashville, Tenn., Herbert L. Weaver (Michelle) of Lafayette, La., and Douglas A. Weaver (Lesa) of Olive Branch. Other survivors include seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
