DENTON, Texas — The funeral service for Herman Stanley Sr., 88, will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Twin Oaks Funeral Home in Southaven with visitation from 2 p.m. until service time. Interment will be in Twin Oaks Memorial Gardens. Stanley died Jan. 20 at Denton Regional Hospital in Denton, Texas where he lived with his daughter and family. His wife of 63 years, died April, 2011. He leaves one son, Dr. Paul Stanley (Becky) of Rosemark, Tenn.; one daughter, Becky Dean (Jimmy) of Denton; eight grandchildren, J.J. Dean, Robbie Dean (deceased), Katie Dean, Sara Dean, David Stanley (Rachael), Michael Stanley ( Krystle), Mark Stanley (Jessica), and Ruth Ray (Wes); five great grandchildren, Courtland Dean, Tyson Dean, Cade Stanley, Noah Stanley, and Grayson Stanley. He had lived in Walls for 47 years and was a member of Berea Baptist Church. He had served as a deacon and elder at Gracewood Presbyterian Church and was an active Boy Scout leader in Troop 37. He worked as a steam and refrigeration engineer at Armour Meat Packing Company for 25 years; and he also worked for the University of Tennessee. He was an Army veteran serving in Japan during post war occupation after World War II.
