HERNANDO — The funeral service for Julia “Opal” Williams, 92, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday with visitation starting at 10 a.m. at Trinity Baptist Church in Eudora. Interment will be in the Trinity cemetery. The family will receive friends at a catered reception Today from 5 until 8 p.m. at Hernando Funeral Home. She was the oldest living member of the church. She was retired from DeSoto County Sheriff’s Department, where she was a dispatcher. She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Richard P. Williams; parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.T. Underwood; son, Richard C. Williams; brother, Robert Underwood; sister, Mable Doyle; daughter-in-law, Peggy Wallace Williams; son-in-law, Chet Felts Sr. She leaves daughter, Carolyn Felts; sons, Billy E. Williams, Preston Williams, R.D. Williams, Terry Ray Williams Sr. (Charlene) and David Blaine Williams, 10 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, two great-great-granddaughters, two step-grandsons, six step-great-grandchildren, three step great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Howard Underwood, Thomas Underwood and Pete Underwood and sister-in-law Elaine Underwood. Any memorials may be made to the church.
