Eugene Vanilee Cosby

OLIVE BRANCH — The funeral service for Eugene Vanilee Cosby, 78, was Tuesday at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home in Amory with interment in Durrett Cemetery. Cosby died April 15 at Tunica Nursing Home. He was born Dec. 12, 1935 in Monroe County to Compton V. and Allie O. (Mize) Cosby. He was Baptist. He was married to Diana Nichols in 1959 in Waukegan, Ill., where they settled and started a family. He joined ROTC in high school and later was in the United States Marine Reserves.  He enjoyed car racing, especially NASCAR, traveling and loved telling stories of his childhood and visiting with family and friends. He leaves his daughter, Carrie Cosby; son, Rex Lee Cosby; three grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; brother Leroy (Frances) Cosby of Lawrence, Kan.; sister Joyce (Guy) Gold of N. Fort Meyers, Fla.; and several other family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Laverne and Eddie, brothers Robert and Clarence (Max) and nephew Mark.
