COLDWATER — The funeral service for Mary Ann “Rachel” Sturdivant, 82, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Hopewell M.B. Church in Independence with visitation starting at noon and at Rodgers Funeral Home from 2 to 6 p.m. Friday. Sturdivant died May 1. She was an usher and member of Mother Board at Hopewell M.B. Church. She was the widow of Willie Sturdivant Sr. She leaves daughters, Lacy M. Alexander of Senatobia, Rosie Jean LeSure, Ethel M. Milam, both of Coldwater; sons, Chester L. Newson of Sardis, Eddie L. Newson of Coldwater, Karl Newson of Byhalia, Jessie D. Newson of Coldwater, James A. Newson of Coldwater, Willie Sturdivant Jr. of Coldwater, Robert E. Sturdivant of Coldwater; sisters, Mary Rucker of Missouri, Onie Gant of Minnesota, Thelma Maxwell, Martha Jean Mays, both of Coldwater, Mattie Mae Newson of Memphis; brothers, Eddie B. Wright, Eugene Wright Jr., both of Coldwater; 43 grandchildren; 93 great-grandchildren; 21 great-great-grandchildren.
