W.L. “Bill” Mathes

HORN LAKE — The funeral service for W.L. “Bill” Mathes, 74, will be at 4 p.m. today with visitation starting at 2:30 p.m. at Twin Oaks Funeral Home in Southaven. Interment will follow in Twin Oaks Memorial Gardens. Mathes died June 13 at his home. He was a Baptist had been an Airman First Class in the Air Force. He was a jet aircraft mechanic for Boeing from 1967-1971 in Seattle, Wash. and employed by FedEx from 1973 until he retired in 1998. He enjoyed karaoke and gardening. He leaves his wife of 52 years, Wanda F. Mathes of Horn Lake; three daughters, Beth Gottlieb of Memphis, Leah Tucker of Southaven, Cindy Holland (Jeff) of Hernando; three sisters, Mary Margaret Feusner, Freida Slawson (Bruce) of Waverly, Iowa, and Joy Swartz (Bill) of Minnesota; six grandchildren, Nikki Gottlieb, Brandon Tucker, Shane Tucker, Amber Nunn, Audrey Nunn, and Amanda Simmons; one great-grandchild, Rylie Simmons; and his mother-in-law, Audrey Lee Reinier. The family requests that any memorials be made to the American Red Cross.
