HORN LAKE — The funeral service for George “Sonny” LaValle Carlisle, 76, will be at 10 a.m. Oct. 4 at Forest Hill South Funeral Home. Carlisle was born Aug. 26, 1938 in Memphis and died Oct. 1. He graduated from Southside High School in 1956; joined the Marine Corps, serving as NATO security in Naples, Italy. He loved all things military and volunteered with the Anderson Jordan Marine Corps League and the American Legion. He later started and ran the George Carlisle Insurance Agency, then retired to travel. He leaves his wife, Brenda CArlisle; two children, John Boyuka (Kathy), Stephanie Boyuka DeSaix (Hank); two granddaughters, Jessica Boyuka and Shelby Boyuka; many nieces and nephews and two faithful dogs, Dewey and Dixie. He was preceded in death by his parents, George LaValle Carlisle Sr. and Vivian Margaret Smith Carlisle; sister, Barbara Stovall; two brothers, Tommy Carlisle and Aubrey Carlisle. The service will be conducted by Brian Carlisle, Sonny’s nephew and minister at Faith Baptist Church in Arlington, Tenn. Any memorials may be sent to the Wounded Warrior Project or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
