DESOTO COUNTY — The funeral service for Samuel Glennie Johnson, 61, will at 10 a.m. Saturday at Brantley Funeral Home in Olive Branch with visitation from 5-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Autumn Woods Cemetery. Johnson died Feb. 5, after a short battle with cancer. He was born in Memphis, May 24, 1951 to Alfred and Mayme Johnson. He graduated from Olive Branch High School in 1969 and attended Northwest Community College for a short time before joining the Air Force. After serving his country for 22 years he retired and brought his family home to Olive Branch. He had been employed at Thompson Wireless at the time of his diagnosis. Johnson was an avid Nascar fan. He also had a lifelong appreciation for the Mini Cooper. He was a member of the Midsouth Miniacs car club and had owned multiple Minis during his life time. Sam leaves his wife of 37 years, Cynthia L Johnson; his daughter Robin L Gilmore (Ian) of Senatobia; his son, Michael G Johnson of Olive Branch; brother, Randy Johnson (Dee) of Olive Branch and brother, Leslie Johnson of Nashville, Tenn.
