Howard John Lorence

Southaven Howard John Lorence, 84, was born Feb. 22, 1930 in Chicago, Ill. to the late Alfred and Gertrude Lorence and passed away Feb. 19, 2015 at Baptist Memorial Hospital-DeSoto in Southaven. He graduated from Whitehaven High School in 1948 and retired from Texas Gas after over 40 years of service. Mr. Lorence was actively involved with Cub Scout Pack 377 and was Scout Master for Boy Scout Troop 349 for over 30 years. He was a member of Carriage Hills Baptist Church, was a Navy veteran of the Korean War and was a combat photographer.  He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Shelah Clement Lorence of Southaven; two sons, Billy W. Thomas and his wife, Tracy of Olive Branch, and Joel L. Thomas of Southaven; two daughters, Patricia Kee and her husband, Richard of Southaven and Sherrill Ray and her husband, R. Beverley Ray of Germantown, Tenn.; one brother, Richard Lorence and his wife, Nancy of Omaha, Neb.; eight grandchildren, Allison Thomas, Lindsey Thomas, Grant Thomas, Mason Thomas, Cory Pirani, Nicole Kee, Colby Kee, and Sarah Ray; and four great grandchildren.  Visitation will be Tuesday, Feb. 24 from 6-9 p.m. at Carriage Hills Baptist Church in Southaven.  Services will be Wednesday, Feb. 25 at 2 p.m. at the church with burial immediately following in Twin Oaks Memorial Gardens in Southaven. Arrangements are in the care of Twin Oaks Funeral Home in Southaven.
