Hernando William “Bill” Long 88 passed away at his home February 27, 2015. He was a World War II U.S. Army Veteran and a Purple Heart recipient; he was also a member of Hernando Baptist Church. Bill was preceded in death by his sister Lavelle Moss and brothers, W.S. Long, Donald Long and Jimmy L. Long. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Billie Long of Hernando; daughter, Tena Long Malnar (Joe) of Hammond, La.; son, Tom Long (Colleen) of Southaven, sisters, Sis McClure of Ackerman, Maurice Keen of Leland and Margie Murphy of Lakeland, Tenn., grandchildren, Jason Long of Memphis, Josh Golding of Denver, Robin Long of Austin, Texas, Pete Golding of Hattiesburg and Jenna Parker of Southaven; great grandchildren, Olivia Parker, Avery Parker, Leila Long, Braxton Golding and Bentley Golding. The family will receive friends at a catered reception Monday, March 2, 2015 from 11 a.m. until time of service at 1 p.m. at Hernando Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Hernando Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please send memorial contributions to the Wounded Warrior Project.
