DeSoto County Darrell Eugene Britt, age 68, died on April 9, 2015 after battling incurable cancer. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving as an officer during the Vietnam War with the 82nd Airborne Division. He was born in Port Sulphur, La. and received two degrees from Louisiana State University. A 32nd degree Mason and a Shriner, he was also a member of the Scottish Rites and York Rites, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the LSU Alumni Association, the American Legion, the Sons of the American Revolution and the Sons of the Confederate Veterans. He was preceded in death by his father, Clifford Andrew Britt and mother, Pauline Carter Britt, two sisters, Cliff Ann Britt and Sharon Britt Barr; one granddaughter, Lorelai Amerie Britt. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 41 years, Mary Virginia Gay Britt, currently residing in Hernando but originally from Ripley. He is also survived by his daughter, Katherine Hope Britt Marciano of Paris, France and husband, Manuel and his son, Charles Andrew Britt of Southaven and wife Jenni in addition to four grandchildren: Jessica, Alex, Hannah, Will. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, April 14 at Ripley Presbyterian Church in Ripley at 11 a.m. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 9 a.m. until service time. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children or the Ripley Presbyterian Church.
