Joe A. Guasco

HERNANDO — The funeral service for Joe A. Guasco, 79, will be at 1 p.m. Friday, April 12 at Twin Oaks Funeral Home in Southaven with visitation starting at noon. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Guasco died April 3 at Mississippi State Veterans Home after a long illness. He was the youngest of eight children. He graduated Whitehaven High School and was called into the Air Force and stationed at Shaw Air Force, S.C. He then attended Memphis State University and was a member of Kappa Alpha Fraternity. His retirement job was at Gold Strike Casino. He leaves his wife of 50 years, Sylvia; five children, Tony Guasco (Patti), Sonny Schmidt (Sharri), Sylvia Couch (Randy), David Schmidt (Debbie) and Chris Schmidt (Sabra); one sister, Estelle Crawford (Bill), 12 grandchildren, four great grandchildren and 13 nieces and nephews. He loved football especially the Memphis Tigers and restoring old cars. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and a communicant at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Community Hospice or the Mississippi State Veterans Home.
